That enthusiasm was conjured to help create enthusiasm for the most boring day of the week.
I have been shunning the computer and reading a lot more. I finished "Maine", a great summer read this past week. I literally felt like I was at a cottage on the coast...among family drama right there with the characters. Great story. Now I want to read the author's first book!
Also I have been reading in preparation for my first year as a homeschooling mom. Yikes!! There are so many great resources. I can't wait to reveal the plan to you later this week or early next week!!! See all those exclamation points?! SUPER EXCITED.
My daughter (Miss Z, total toddler) has been loving the "Belly Button Book" by Sandra Boynton lately. Because she is obsessed with belly buttons. She has to lift my shirt up and tries to show everyone mine. Sigh.
Little Mr. Z, my preschooler, is reading a lot of old favorites lately. I have to make it a point to ensure that he is getting plenty of "new" reading in too. He recently got "Port Side Pirates" from Barefoot Books (or, he took it from my stock =)) and loves the appendices just as much as the story. It is really packed full of pirate info. Perhaps some pirate crafts are in order? Also, Mr. Z loves "Lily's Purple Plastic Purse". I do too because Kevin Henkes manages to sneak humor in there for the parents too. Love it when I laugh out loud while reading to my kids!
I hope this inspires you! And I want to know what you are reading too!
**If you happen to buy Port Side Pirates, or any other Barefoot Book, as a Barefoot Ambassador, I will receive a commission**
I've been delving into a bunch of homeschooling books this summer, too! I haven't made the commitment, but we are dabbling in a "learning summer" to test the waters. I'm sure you've already come across this one, but I think that "A Well Trained Mind" is a really fantastic resource! I started "The Story of the World" with my 7 year old, and she is LOVING the first volume! I can't wait to read more about your homeschooling adventure!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is reading "A Well Trained Mind" right now! I sneaked a peek and it looks excellent! I need to go check out "Story of the World". Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI just finished a novella, Uncharted, by Tracey Garvis Graves and now I'm checking out The Silent Wife. My kids both loved the Belly Button Book and we still laugh and point to their "Bee Bos!"
ReplyDeleteOhhh Colleen, those both look great!! Just added to my goodreads list.
DeleteI'm waiting for "Wonder" to be available from the library, but I was reading "The Green Boat" by Mary Pipher. I need make another trip to the library.
ReplyDeleteBoth look very good! Yes, I have had my share of waiting on books. My friend told me about a book to read a year ago. Once I finally remembered to reserve it, there were like 20 people ahead of me! Now its down to 4!!
DeleteMy little toddler loves the belly button book too and also loves to find everyone else's belly button - appropriate time or not!
ReplyDeleteLOL I feel better its not just my kid! =) Thanks for stopping by!
