Barefoot Books: Fave of the Week!

I want to highlight a couple of awesome books we have been enjoying recently. My son has had "Shopping with Dad" for a month now, and he loves it. He thinks it is silly and fun, I love it for those reasons and more. Reasons I like this book (aside from the lesson that accidents happen and we can all help make things better): The DAD is taking his child to the grocery store. See, not just moms go to the grocery store! Multiculturalism clearly illustrated. The little girl, her dad, and her mother make up an interracial family. Nice to see!  I also appreciate how there are interesting people in the book, just look at the ages, hairstyles and clothing of the background characters. The language is enjoyable to read for both kids and adults. I got a big chuckle out of an item on the shopping list"Well-behaved daughter water" ha! We have to read this book at least twice in one sitting.

  1. Hey Veronica,

I need to get this book. I love books like that - that celebrate diversity - but just acknowledging that it exists.

    Thanks for this review!
