I've been busy...with my gallbladder

After my longest blog hiatus ever, I am back! Things have been interesting the last couple of weeks. What will really be interesting is having surgery next week.

I cannot eat fat. No cheese or olives for me. Apparently my body goes into attack mode when I do. This has been going on for some time, but 1) I did not think it was anything serious, as the pain would leave in a couple of hours and 2) I did not go to the doctor to make sure everything was ok (it wasn't). The past 2 weeks have been filled with bland foods, sushi rolls with no avocado, no fat turkey and oatmeal. And forget the fish oil supplement. Hungry yet?!

Amazing how our bodies work, more amazing still how when everything works perfectly we dont give things a second thought. How we make ourselves feel better or worse by our thoughts that often become words and actions. Stop and listen, what are you telling yourself? I was a brat and pouted for a bit when I found out what was wrong with me and that I needed surgery soon. It only made me feel worse.  Then last Sunday at Mass the priest stressed how our suffering is never wasted, how we can offer it up and let it be used for good. Now, I am working on being humble and grateful for the things that do work.

  1. Such a great message. I have been leaning to far in to the negative side lately. Are you getting your GB taken out. I was just told I might be too! Praying for an easy surgery and quick recovery.
