Documenting Our Downsizing

No, we're not moving.

I know ya'll have heard how sometimes stuff takes up our time in maintenance, not to mention space and peace of mind. Well, I have been feeling for a while now that our stuff is taking over just a little bit. Hubby recently cleaned out the garage, which led me to get rid of a bunch of baby clothes that was taking up space and we didn't need. That felt good. I decided to continue the project.
As a thrifter, I feel like I bring a lot in sometimes. Toys are officially off limits now, unless they are really great. No more trains or cars.
Here is a picture of all the toys I got rid of and my kids didn't even miss them (that yellow bag is FULL of cars). Time for less toys indeed, if you have so much you don't even know what is what!

Also, I went through my son's clothes and got rid of stuff. Winter pj's....tshirts. After the purge, he still has 12 tshirts. That is way too many for us. This reminded me of when he was around 2 years old and I literally had 5 outfits for him. Those laundry days were so simple! Putting away was a breeze! Maybe I can get back to that somehow?

The bag below is full of jewelry and other junk I haven't used in forever.

Yarn. I downsized my stash by half. I won't even miss all of this in the giant shopping bag.

I also got rid of my breadmaker and my food processor. I can honestly say I don't remember the last time I needed or used those items. I have a blender and a hand mixer. And my hands! I can stir, can't I?

I will keep you posted on my progress. Have you gotten rid of anything lately?

Stay tuned for tomorrow's blog post, our #weeklyreadingbasket will be on the blog!

  1. I need to do a lap this week and purge what we aren't using. I love passing on our items to homeschooling families in the community, but sometimes that means I hold on to STUFF waiting for people to claim & come pick up. I think I'll feel better if we can drop off a bag or two at Goodwill this week!
