Advent Unplugged

As soon as Thanksgiving is over, I am going to RUN, not walk to the.....
garage. Did you think I was going to say "Best Buy" or "Target?"
Nope. I am going to run to my garage and get my Advent items out of storage.

This is such an exciting time of year, because there is preparation, preparation, preparation, and then the most wonderful, beautiful holiday ever.

What I am gathering:
Advent Wreath and Candles
Nativity Set
Devotional Books
and then I am going to go crazy on the computer and put on hold books from our Advent reading list in Catholic Mosaic.

AdventUnplugged Then I am going to put the computer down. And stop. And think. And pray.
Today I found this Advent Unplugged post and it really, really spoke to me. Catholics sometimes call Advent "little Lent". Because we are preparing our hearts, ourselves for the coming of the Christ Child. We can fast, reflect, and pray. It makes Christmas day that much more special.
It is a good time to slow down and just enjoy the season.

My goals:
More prayer (especially with the kids)
Uninstall FB and Twitter from my phone. Because really, if its urgent, text me. Less twaddle. I do love social media, it makes me feel connected and has connected me to some great people. Perhaps I can do more connecting IRL?
Connect face to face. Plan a special outing with someone.

What do you think? How do you prepare for Christmas?

  2. I'm really trying to to stress about it. I'm not doing any real preparing - besides the normal Christmas stuff for the kids. Elf on the Shelf, Christmas tree, etc. Sounding very unreligious, but we aren't doing anything we don't do every other day. We show God our love every single day, o we will continue to do that.
