Weekly Treasures

So far, this week has been a pretty low key thrifting week. I have not made it to any estate sales yet, hopefully that will happen Saturday (hey, its 50% off day at the estate sales here on Saturday!).  I did stop by a new (for me) thrift store that I heard about from one of my fave blogs, Maker Mama, and I was absolutely amazed at how organized it was. I was especially happy to see the children's books separated from the adult books. Pricing was really confusing, but the staff was very helpful. My son entertained himself with a toy bus the whole time, which was great because I like to concentrate a bit when digging through books.
the wording in this book is so funny now!

I found a wonderful how to sew booklet from 1949, yardage of fabric, 5 yards for $4.00 (I will hopefully be making THIS dress with it) , "The Ox Cart Man" and a Beginning Reader book for my son Mr. Z. I also SCORED a sweet painting for $5!! Something about the colors gives me a sense of calm. Seriously, this is a great deal to me, because I can't even find a frame for $5, never mind an original painting.
Wish me luck for Saturday's treasure hunting and let me know if you found any lovely thrifties this week!

  2. You are welcome! I went to Jefferson Thrift. The lady who worked there even hugged me goodbye she was so sweet!
